Steve Jobbs said ‘let’s reinvent tomorrow’. and along came 1000 songs in our pocket. Which very soon and before we even had a chance to object - turned into everything in our pocket- being put in there by complete strangers – against our will - incl other people’s ‘smart' tools and seductively toxic toys, that made their way seamlessly from our pockets into our bloodstreams to make money off our human vulnerabilities.
But the difference between this and other 'progress’ changes is that we – the users - had no time to be sceptical. Which is the huge irony because, a lot of the world’s development , that we were once sceptical about, turned out kind of ok … and the thing we just ‘went along with’, is not ok. No other change has 'changed ' us as a collective human race as this has, at the speed that it has and without us realizing. Until now. Now it’s time for us to take back our attention. For us to reinvent not only tomorrow but the direction of our tech and human future. It’s time to stand up and make tech serve us instead of us serving it, by learning how to ‘Outsmart the smartphone’ and de-vice from all our devices.
And it’s much easier than we think. We don’t need to take on the tech companies. Why not? Well just ask yourself this – what do we sound and look like – when with one hand we are punching and begging and shouting at them ''please make me stop''…..all the while we are using the other hand to continue extracting and injecting the data into our brains.
Who are we giving the control to?
Who really has the ultimate control?
We do. The Users. We need to be the change , one Smart User at at time.

Most importantly we want youth, instead of falling victims to our creation - to lead the way in the change. Adults need to change to lead by example. But our children can’t wait for us . They can awaken themselves and Be The Change. We have started to work with a few young people already and seen remarkable revelations in how they will
Most importantly we want youth, instead of falling victims to our creation - to lead the way in the change. Adults need to change to lead by example. But our children can’t wait for us . They can awaken themselves and Be The Change. We have started to work with a few young people already and seen remarkable revelations in how they will be able to be more resilient than us. We don’t do this by banning phones, which they will all eventually get access to in the privacy of their own eyes and hand. We do it by empowering them to make smart user choices. We don’t want to make them want it more .. we want to make them want it less.
What do we need to teach ours and future generations?
Just like many of us in the world have choices about what we eat. We also have choices about what information we consume and produce.
However 'Information' it now appears, is surprisingly and scarily more addictive to humans than food. But when you dig deeper as to why information is so addictive, it is not so surprising and there are many interesting reasons for this. Our TechOutsmart Sessions address root causes which are vital to understand. If we are to change ours and our children’s tech user habits, we have to know why and how they became habits in the first place. And why we need future generations to change these habits if we are to have an optimistic future.
